Question why motor oil gets black fast

my 97 town & country LXI,i did the oil change like 3 weeks ago,today i checked it and is black,i only drove it for like 1200 miles,the van has 123000 mile on it now,can any body help

you either have a sludge problem or your engine's running unusually warm and it's cooking the oil

Castrol is good oil, but what kind of filter do you use? Also, are you the original owner? If not the previous owner could have used crap oil and you need to flush the motor on the next oil change. It comes in a one liter jug. Just follow the instructions on it. Your temp gage does seem to be a little high. These vans run a little below half as a rule. Could be nothing, but check your rad out and coolant level. Good luck!

also, is the fan working all the time? The fan usually only comes on when the water temp goes over 212, if you're running warm and that fan's running all the time, you're slowly cooking the oil.
