Looking for a new exaust?

I've just purchased a 95' Aurora. I'm very pleased with this car so far, but I am looking to add a little more horsepower. I've looked into various proformance parts, but I'd like to start out with the exaust. I'd like a low rumble; as opposed to the standard "bumble bee".

If any other owners have a good exaust recomendations, send em over. I'm all ears.

After you have the factory mufflers taken off, look into the inlet end of the muffler- you will be HORRIFIED at how small the pipe is inside. they were TRYING to hold this car back! just have an inexpensive set of turbo mufflers put in place of your factory mufflers(i had the stock tips put back on the new mufflers). that`ll give it a little tone, but not alot. see if you like it. if you want more (i did) then have the resonator removed & replaced with a str8 pipe. this will bring out more rumble, but it still won`t be TOO loud, or obnoxious. this is what i did & i LOVE IT! i wish i`d have done it years ago. total cost at the local discount muffler shop-$ 150.

Interesting.. Is the pipe coming into the muffler just as small? Or is it just the muffler inlet that is small?

no,the pipe before the muffler is normal size, it`s just the tube just inside the muffler. it reduces to like 1 inch!! it`s ridiculous!!
you will NOT regret doing new exhaust! TRUST ME!

Re: Re: Looking for a new exaust?

I'm having a y-pipe made and putting flowmaster delta 40's on. I'm having 2 1/2" pipe from the resonator, that was what my instructions were anyway. I brought the muflers and tips in of which the inlet side of the tips has to be widened to accommodate the larger dia. pipe.

Anyone want to take a stab at what the labor on that would be? My faith in them is wavering.

If its being done at a specialty muffler shop, I wouldn't pay over $100. This kind of work is routine for them.

Please post whenever you get the rora back and let us know how them flows sound!

Re: Looking for a new exaust?

I ended up putting Flowmaster series 40 mufflers on, (not stainless) (and yes I said standard not delta 40's) with 2 1/2" pipe from res. back and even out the tips (they had to split the inlet of the tops for this). How I feel about the sound level, is that it's not loud enough sometimes and too loud othertimes, overall I'm happy with the sound level. Here's the breakdown on cost. Make sure when you take it in you have them hoist it up and show confidence about building the Y-pipe. To all those who made me do this "you are a bad influence!!" By the way, when I set this up everything was in colums and easy to understand until I posted it. :-/ sorry.

each labor Extended

Custome 2 1/2" exhaust 80.99 (pipe) 140.00 220.99

Exhaust hanger 9.95 X2 19.90

Weld exhaust 19.95

total 220.84

Mufflers -40 series o/c A Flo-42541 79.99 X2 149.88

shipping 12.09

Stainless/chromed tips 22.20 X2 with shipping 60.40

total cost 442.87

Here are the sites where I got;

the tips http://www.amgindustries.com/index.php

the mufflers http://www.racerpartswholesale.com

some pictures http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...1366&members=1

I edit a lot. :-D

Re: Re: Looking for a new exaust?

Think I should make them fix the drivers side to match the passengers side?
