My 1986 oldsmobile will start up every morning and run great untill I get to my destination and its hot and I turn it off. It will crank over and over but wont fire, But on the manifold because this car is the wonderfull 2.8 ltr FI v6 it has a fuel pressure release that looks like a valve stem of some sort and if I press it and release the air pressure it will start and then run for a sec and die I can repeat this about 3 times consecutively untill it stays running or just let the car cool all the way down for a couple of hours then it will start right up.
I've replaced the fuel pump and the filter twice and that doesn't seem to be the problem. If you have any usefull advice please please let me know anything that might posably help. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!!!!!! ITS GOT ME BEATING MY HEAD IN THE WALL AND GOING SCREWY!

Re: My 86 cutlas cieraSL wont start when its hot can you help me?
The fuel pressure regulator seems like it is bad and needs replaced. Much easier than a fuel pump. Once the car shuts off when hot the FPR should hold appropriate pressure. In your case it is leaking down and causing air to enter the system. It is not hard to replace although it will take an hour or two. Relatively cheap fix.
