Considering buying 2002 Concorde

I have been offered a chance to buy a 2002 Chrysler Concorde LX at the wholesale price (about $6000), and I was hoping that someone might give me some advice as to whether or not this is really a good buy. I know that the car has been well maintained and does not have any significant damage to it. I am a college student, so that price is about upper limit of what I can afford.

I know that this car contains a 2.7L engine, and that similar engines found in slightly older Concordes were notoriously unreliable. Does anyone know if this is still a problem in the newer models? Are there any other major known problems that I should be looking out for?

Please let me know what you think, I am very grateful for any advice.

If the mileage is low, and you maintain the regular 3 month/3,000 mile oil change and use synthetic oil, that car will last you a long time. I have a 2002 Intrepid, the sister car to the Concorde, and I have not had any problems with it since I bought it in January '04 other than the coolant adapter housing leaking, these cars are highly reliable now.

CHANGE THE OIL ALL THE TIME A SWITCH TO SYNTEC. U WILLL BE GOOD IF YOU DO THAT. ALSO CHANGE YOUR TRANS FLUID.

Find one with a 3.2 in it,it is the better engine and outruns the 2.7 anyday. Some 1998 and up Concordes do have the 3.2 in them from the factory. My Aunt Jean has one with a 3.2 from the factory.Chrysler Concordes with a 2.7 are worth less than one with a 3.2 in it.My father watched 2 go through a car auction that is dealer ony( about a year ago). They both had blown up 2.7s and went for $1800.00 each
