Twisted death.

Note: I had raced several SRT-4s up until this point, and never lost.

So Im coming home from school, and Im in a 35 going 60, and ppl start flashing their lights, so I know theres a speed trap ahead. I slow down to 35, and this SRT-4 comes up behind me, gets about 6 inches away from my bumper, revs his engine and downshifts and takes off. He hits atleast 70 and then slams on his breaks as he sees the speed trap. And as all stories go, the next thing that happened, we were at a light side-by-side. He revs up, so do I. The light turns green, we both go. Thruogh 1st I had about a car length. We both shift into second at the same time, and I had him all the way up to 5k RPMs, then he just takes off. I look at his exhaust, hear his turbos spool up thruogh the exhaust and see his pipes rattle about 6inches both ways. I look to my friend and he looks at me, we were both wide eyed. I drop it to neutral and motion for him to slow down. I pull up next to him and tell him I have raced several SRT-4s and have never lost. He tells me its a 2005 and it runs a 13.7 from the factory. I was in shock, that car pulled so hard in 2nd. Jesus...

Re: Twisted death.

All SRT-4s are high 13s capable. You just met someone who can actualy drive an SRT-4. I've raped stage 2 SRT-4s. Why? Can't launch FWD. Oh well. Good death I guess. Tell us more about your car.

I have a 91 5.0. The guy I bought it from showed me a slip of it running a 13.8. He said it was stock, but stock's run 14.7. The only mod I know of is a stage 3 bronze clutch. I just ordered cold-air intake, so that will be on there soon. Oh, and 3 chamber H-pipes. Other then that...not much to tell.

Re: Twisted death.

there's alot of potential in those 302's.... the 5.0 works well with aftermarket... it's like ford created it just to be tinkered with

Yea, the 302 is a great engine. Im at 135k with mine and it still runs smooth, sounds and looks great. Overall can't complain too much...just wish it was a little faster .

interesting

13.8 seconds in the 1/4mile seems pretty quick for a stock 302. not calling bs but do you by any chance have the timeslip of that 13.8 sec run? if so i'd like to know what the 60ft. time was. 13.8 might be possible on Drag slicks. but other than that i dunno. or there's other mods that the guy didnt' tell you about. But in my experiences with SRT4's. They kicked my ass every which way possible when mine was stock. there was absolutely nothing i could do against them. Now it's a little different story for me but, i'm not gonna highjack ur thread. anyway srt's are tough for a stock 5.0...like someone else said it may just be that you finally ran into someone who knows how to drive it. Legit death no doubt.

Re: Twisted death.

Like everyone said, good loss. At least you lost to a worthy car and driver.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Twisted death.

Like it a lot when people know exactly how to drive the car they drive. If someone drives better than me, dammit they deserve to win, and if they don't, they at least deserve props. Anybody can throw a grand a t a shop an dtell them to make it faster. It takes practice to drive it. Nice car.

Re: Twisted death.

Yea, I actually posted a thread asking what could be done to my car for it to run a 13.8, cause I honestly don't know. I did see the slip though, so I know it's legit. Probably slicks or something...
