Resetting the Speedo after Gear swap

I'm going to be going from 3.23 to a 3.73 POSI tomorrow and was wondering if there is a tool out there that will allow me to reset the speedo myself. I know GM will do it for about $100.

Anybody know of anything ?

I think Hypertech Powerprogrammer would handle that.

Thanks !!

Are the Hypertech Powerprogrammers something that stays on the vehicle or can they be used on different vehicles of the same year and model ? I noticed that they are mostly model year specific. If I have a Hypertech Powerprogrammer for 1998 Astros, can I use it on a bunch of 1998 Astros ?

I'm asking because if it's a one time change, it's $100 for recalibrating at the dealer. They Hypertech unit is a min of $400. Will they make enough of a difference in other areas to warrant the additional expense ?

Re: Resetting the Speedo after Gear swap

They can be used for one vehicle only. Basically, they record the stock ECM memory in the unit and then flash it with what they want. It's pretty much tied to that vehicle in particular.

They will make a difference in other areas, performance gains are in that little box. They can also be programmed to compensate for larger tires I believe as well....
