Water leak inside!

on the passenger side rear floor, it was soaked with water, where would the leak come from, the door seals themselves or someplace diffrent, BTW it was only wet on that side, and just in the back

I'm not sure what year we're talking about here but there are two areas of concern with the 92-99 body style.

1) Sunroof. There are 4 tubes, one at each corner, that drain water that comes into the sunroof tray. They can become clogged or disconnected. Simply pouring a cup of water into the tray as the car is on a slight incline can show if the drains are clogged or not. If they were disconnected, you would usually see a staining or discoloration of the headliner material. The headliner needs to be dropped somewhat to visually inspect the drain connections.

2) Door seals. For some reason, the door seals seem to shrink. Check the seals for proper installation along the pinch welds. You may need to loosen the sill trim to get more slack so the seals are fully pressed into the corners. You may also find that there is now an inch or so gap at the bottom.

I had both problems. I used silicone to reconnect both of the two rear draind. For the door seals, I used a rope caulk along the rain "gutters" to prevent any water from getting into the door seals rather than a sealant on the seals themselves. So far, I've not noticed any more water on the carpet or under the rear seats.

I have some interest in this answer, the spare tire well in my 2000 Bonneville collects water. I've checked all of the seals, got no sunroof, door seals look good, trunk seal looks good.

I did find one of the trunk lid stops missing on the right side, replaced may have slowed the leak, maybe. The trunk lid does not sit tight I can put some downward pressure and move the lid down 1/8 +. Could this be the source?

I have a 95 bonnie and i also had trunk leaks, i had wife put me in trunk (she loved that) and wet down with hose. i found a leak where tail light screws to frame and also check the spot weld where the support for the jack storage is. i found a weld pulled through and was letting water come in trunk because these welds are on outside of weatherstrip.

Re: Water leak inside!

The newer Bonnevilles are notorious for having door leaks. If it is not the sunroof drains, then look into the water deflector in that door. The butyl seal might be failing on the water deflector.

Exclamation Re: Water leak inside!

I would check the upper portion of the Passenger side (Rear) Wheelwell. I had the same leak that drove me crazy and I found a 4 inch rot hole in the wheelwell.

Re: Water leak inside!

Probably, deflector in door as Mark pointed out.I had sunroof drain separate where pillar meets dash and it would run down a trough under carpet to the rear and soak floor.
