well I'll say GM is Good or Bad as the rest...
one thing you guys have to take in consideration -
If something do get bad on a GM it is cheap and easy to get,
if you own lets say a 96 Toyota camry - a used engine will run u about $1200... for the motor only no labor
an avrage GM motor will run about $400
and from what i've seen around they all have problems. none of the
cars are perfect and trouble free... i don't care if it is a Hyundai or a mercedes... all have thier share of good and bad

Re: GM Poll

I based my vote on the past history as well as today. Although presently GM is going through some bad times, it is hoped that they can turn things around and get back on track to producing vehicles of a caliber as the ones they made in the 50's to the early '70s.

Re: GM Poll

GM is like any other super-large corporation, they'll have their ups and downs, fact is they help bring consumers affordable transportation. Voted Good.

first of all fuck gm. I don't get it? when you buy a car your in agreement with gm. I'll agree to pay monthly payments, in return you let me drive off with a sound well built car. this is very deceptive. since they don't keep there promise with a "sound and well built car" why should I keep my promise. why can i not pay every monthly payment. I think i should be able to miss a few payments to make up for money i've spent on repairs. let's face it, we all expect a few things to go wrong, alternator, shocks, brakes, even with a new car. these are simple 200$ repair jobs that the average consumer can AFFORD to fix. but when you get into 700$ intake gasket problem, 2500$ transmission problem, 2500$ engine problem, 500$ intermediate steering shaft problem, unexplained electrical problem costing 500$ every time you take it in. thats when they're flat out LYING to YOU! If they were upfront and said "hey before you buy this car you're gonna have these problems costing you 5000$+ but we still want you to keep up your end of the deal and pay every payment". would you still buy the car? HELLL NOOOO! I think the question of "do you like gm"? doesn't even need to be asked. WHO THE HELL WOULD LIKE SOME FACELESS MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR CORPORATION! unless you own it. or are a totall WORM!

Re: GM Poll

The intermitted steering shaft was not a recalled part, the fuel pressure regulator was not a recalled part. The only way something will get recalled is if it's a safety problem with the car. Although you'd think being stranded out in the middle of no where with your kids would become a safety problem. I know the hazard switch was a safety problem and it wasn't recalled, i had to pay for it to be fixed. like 60 some bucks!!!

I totally agree with 3.4imp on the maintance thing. I don't mind replacing brakes and the oil changes and the tranny flushes and all that...thats called general maintance, it doesn't matter what kind of car you own. it's something you have to do. But ya....when they walk into the waiting area and they tell you the car you bought 3 months ago needs a intake manifold gasket, or the tranny needs new valves in it. for some people replacing the motor or the tranny on their cars that doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it is pretty ridiculous. If you can sit there and say that GM has their problems and blah blah blah, then drive my car for a few months...you will be calling me to come and pick it up because it's getting to expensive. It's pretty said when i have money put away because repairs are so damn expensive. If i had a nice well built car, i could be using that money on something else like a new motorcycle that i can't afford now because of this fucking car....I could have bought a nice motorcycle for 7500 bucks in which just went into repairs. It's just fustrating and if really annoying to sit here and listen to people say that what i'm going through is NORMAL and expected.

I dont know if you are dumb or pretending to be, you bought a new car and spend money fixing it, boy you are a dumb fuck.
you have a 36,000 3 years bumper to bumper warranty you crack head.
I bought a new GM car and did not spend a dime so far.
had a few repairs done by the dealer with no problems or complications.... not only that, i had a free oil change for the whole year.
unless you did something really wrong that voided your warranty, like abusing the car crashing it or hell knows what... but otherwise there is no reason in the world for the dealer not to repair the car for you with no cost to you.
whats more GM cars are coverd for any emmisions and computers defects for up to 80,000 miles or 7 years and there are some more things that covered more than 3 years... so open that little book they gave you with the car (yes it's important stuff in it like warranty and how to operate your vehicle - not to wipe your ass with) and read your rights dumb ass.... well thats unless you dont know how to read and i wasted my time writing all that....
and all you did probably messed up the car by yourself because you don't want to make the payments...

Fuel Pressure Regulator was a recalled part, I had it done for free not that long ago. They sent me a nice little flyer and everything about it. Cost me nothing but 20 minutes of my time.

Aside from recall parts and general wear and tear, I have had zero problems like you people who so ungodly hate GM. Sorry you have a bad car, no one forced you to buy it, you could have easily researched reliability and other such things on cars before buying.

Whoa. Maybe he did research and got a good report or two, paid serious money for a new car, made it through the warranty and the self destruct timer went off. The Impala should be rock solid for 100K miles, and most GM cars are for 200K for the most part. Seems to be a lot of unhappy GM owners these days for sure.

yeh thats it pal... he got those disposable cars the one you use and throw away at the end of the day.......ha ha
i tought only the chinese doing them... lol
let me tell you, that "imp3.4" guy is one of those guys that have nothing to do just trush american cars. i've seen the same at the japanese cars forums but there done by american car supporters.
it's going on all over the place..
let me ask all you guys who read this.. if you bought a car lets say out of warranty, and you had to pay for all kinda problems after a short period of time, would you sell that car a.s.a.p or keep on droping money into it again and again and again like that guy claims...???
i think not... and that's why i say this imp3.4 guy is full of shit!
and if imp3.4 read this.... pal go to different forum trush some real junks like them new volkswagens. and if you did do a research you'll find out that most impala owners are very satisfied with the car. (don't you guys forget those are the cars that the law enforcement chose to serve because of durability and not looks..... altough they do look cool)
