Radio lamp out

I have a simple question. My radio display light just went out. I can't find the right ruse that might be out. Is there a way to access the light bulb behind the panel to change, or does anyone know which is the correct fuse to use? I've already checked radio and radio amp fuses. Any suggestions would be great.

Try this link: http://users.adelphia.net/~bpaskevic...mp_repair.html. It has all the pics. The replacement is fairly simple. Removing the dash and radio is the only way to get access to the bulb. I paid about $8 for the replacement bulb. Good luck.

SWEETNESS! I already had the dash off and was getting ready to remove the radio, but thought I'd go by the "dealer" to get a new lamp. They said I had to buy a new radio. CLOWNS! I am good to go. Project # 46 for Saturday! SWEET! Thanks!

Think about it. They don't make money selling light bulbs.

Sure they can! they would just take that $ 7.99 light bulb from Radio Shack and slap their GM label on it, charge us $ 24.99 for it and then say they weren't in stock and it would take 2 weeks for the special order to arrive..... ~

Why would they want to do that when they can have you pull the radio out. Bring it to them. They can keep it for a month. Ship 50 out at a time. Get it back a month later. Then charge you $160.00 for it.
If you think this is wrong, wait till Monday and call them. Tell them the LED is messed up in your clock. See what they say.

Re: Radio lamp out

The Pontiac dealership I called said that I would have to pull the radio out and bring it in. They would ship it back east to have it repaired and about 3-4 weeks later I would get it back. I asked for the name of the company they send thme to, and called the repair company. They told me I would have to send the radio in to be fixed. After checking on line, I found this site and follwed the above instructions after calling around here in town. I found an electronics store that specialized in car radios, and they had the bulb for $7.99. I thought that was steep considering the size of the bulb, but it sure as hell beat $165 for the repair.
