Re: will the 2se carb kit work for a E2se?
Both carbs are similar but the E2SE Varajet carb uses an electronically controlled mixture (hence the "E" designation). The carb has an electrically operated mixture control solenoid that works in conjunction with an early Engine Control Module (ECM aka computer) and an O2 sensor. I have the 2SE on my '85, federal version and that sucker was a nightmare to rebuild. All the linkages had to be checked/adjusted using a special protractor tool as the adjustments are measured referencing the air valve and choke plates.
In your case, I would first get the proper rebuild kit.... it likely has additional stuff in it not required for the 2SE. While your at it, I would get an O2 sensor as this is the major source of feedback for the computer... garbage in, gabage out... and will directly effect what mixture the carb feeds the engine. Check the dashpots, I think there are two of them, make sure they hold vacuum... if they don't, you'll need to replace them (they still make some of the dashpot assemblies). A commercially rebuilt Varajet of either variety will set you back about 300 big ones.
Good luck....
