Tied With Camaro Z28 LS1 WTF???
Ok I have all the mods listed below expect, im running about 12 psi not 14. My best friend bought a z28 LS1 and it has a drop in K&N, Which K&N claims 8 horse on the dyno. We race and were dead even maybe he pulls a hair but most of the time dead even. I don't get it its stock and with all the mods i got i should be pushin 360 at least? Anyone else race LS1's and really close or what.

Makes sense to me. Those Z28's all you need is an exhaust to get in the 12's, maybe K & N put him low 13's, which is what I would think you're at with your mods.

Yep, you're about even. ls1s are underrated from the factory. Just like Twisted said. Stock for stock, we win on the launch, they come back hard and walk us after the first 1/8 mile or so. So with your mods you are probably about even.

well it all depends... my car has the mods listed below... mabey a little more... and my mom owns a ls1 transam with all aluminum block and heads with exhuast and i rape that thing all the time when my bro drives it... and he is a great driver, and yes its a 6 speed... we also have a supercharged lt1 formula firebird and i can take that on as well... so im with you i dont undertsand...
ive raced many camaros and transams and ive only lost to one but he has a big blower running nitrous and he had alot done to his car.

Yes but both of you are modded further than he is. He is stock except an intake, downpipe, adn catback. His stock catback was 2.75", borla is 2.8" So if still at 12psi, he shouldn't expect huge gains, he probably only has 350-365 at the crank. I have friends who have run 13.1 stock on ls1 trans ams. So it makes perfect sense to me.

Those LS1's are bad cars with huge potential. As was already said, it takes very few parts to put them into the 12's.

no, that sounds about right. My friend's RT/TT with a stillen dp, mbc @ 14 psi, gutted cats, and open intake has walked several LS1 corvettes without too much of a problem. Him and my other friend with a vr-4 @ 13 psi, open intake, and gutted precats (no downpipe) both out trap the LS1 corvette's at the track.
