Question Unorthodox underdrive crank pulley

I wanted to get one of these for my b16 swap. I was gonna try and get the ultra R because I dont have PS and I'm taking a/c out. I read on the unorthodox racing site that the belt needs to be a little longer, and they give a PN for gates belts. Is this belt the same as any honda belt? I guess the only belt driven is the alternator belt (water pump?) Any info appreciated.

perhaps I'm just ignorant, but what good does it do to take the AC belt off?

well for starters when you buy a lightened underdrive crank pulley none of your factory belts will fit and i was too lazy to try and find the right sized one after i made countless trips to the belt store to find one for my alternator.

Are their any issues I should know about before I buy a new crank pulley? Am I in for odd harmonic problems due to the low weight of the new pulley? All new belts are required, you can't just adjust the tension pulleys? Please help...

I called Unorthodox Racing about harmonics and they said that there should be no issues. I have had the pulley on for 3k miles or so and it hasn't blown up yet and I rev it high. I'm not sure about tensioning the belts, I just shelled out the couple bucks for a new one.

yeah, a 4-banger isn't likely to see a crank failure from removing the tv damper (I know I raised the concern in another thread, but I've had more time to think about it). The possibility does exist, but it's fairly remote. A more likely problem would be early failure of the accessories (due to transmitted vibrations), and potentially some noise (less of a problem with a belt-driven cam than with gears or a chain).
