01 Grand am SE HELP!! Concerning A/C and Heat

Ok everything has been fine, but I noticed today when I turn on the A/C or heat it doesnt work on low settings, but when I put it on Medium or High it works fine...nothings wrong. Why wont it work on low settings anymore? It was working fine this morning, but i went out quick later today and it wasnt working. Could it be a fuse? Its weird that only medium/max settings would blow air.

Re: 01 Grand am SE HELP!! Concerning A/C and Heat

I had a 98 Pontiac Montana with the same type of problem, it turned out to be the electrical connection at the blower motor. Some how or another the plug was working loose and only the #4 fan speed (out of 5 speeds) would work #'s 1-3 & 5 would not work. I un-plugged the harness and plugged it back in and low and behold I had all 5 speeds working. I don't know if that is your prob. but it is a no cost process of elimination. With any luck it may take care of your problem

Good luck

Your blower motor resister is probably gone.

Its a pretty easy fix... and the part will probably run you about $35-40 at an aftermarket shop.
