Unhappy 99 Accord CD wont play CD-R's???

Hello,

I just bought a 1999 Honda Accord EX. I do love it, however, the first thing I did when I got home was download some great tunes and burn a CD to go for a drive in my new car.

Well, it kept spitting it out, over and over. So, finally I tried a store bought CD and wallah! It played......is this standard for the 99 models or is my CD player broken?

help!!!!

signed,

CD-R tuneless in California!

Re: 99 Accord CD wont play CD-R's???

Well, Since it's Factory System it probablly won't play CD+R's but my mom's friend has a 2002 Ford with factory CD player and it plays my CD+R's Fine. try to get a cheap Headunit and install it. and you should be fine. but im sure your factory CD player only plays store bought CD's.

have you tried burning a different cd? If it keeps spitting it out it doesn't necessarily mean that it can't play the disc, it just doesn't like it for some reason that I'm unaware of.

Headunit = cd player.

Yeah, Never seen a cd player spit out a CD. even if it doesn't play it. still have to eject it to come out heh. you heard new stuff everyday i guess. but yeah Headunit is your In-Dash CD-Player.

This may sound a bit stupid, but did you convert those MP3 musics to regular CD audio when you burn the CD?

If you did, and the player kept spitting out the CD, try different brand CD-R.

Try burn the CD at a bit slower speed. Some CD players couldn't read CD that was burned at faster speed because the mark on the CD isn't clear enough for it to read.

Yo, its most likely cause the cd is thicker then a factory cd. Try a different brand, the more expensive ones are closer to factory size... My mom's car wouldnt play cd-r from shit like Memorex, however did play a couple of the better brands... Give it a shot, if it doesnt work, pick up an aftermarket headunit.

Re: 99 Accord CD wont play CD-R's???

You guys are all on crack. If the deck doesn't read it, it means one of three things. One, you fucked up when you made the disc and didn't put the files in the correct audio format or didn't close the session or some shit like that, or maybe defective burning software. Second, a compatability issue with the brand of CD-R because the cheaper ones use different materials which can be more difficult to be read. Thirdly, your deck doesn't have the technology to read recorded discs. This isn't all that uncommon, especially in factory decks. The reason why more Fords have less trouble is because of the software they use in their units. They were actually the first automaker to offer a factory deck capable of reading MP3 discs so they're kind of up to date with their technology in that aspect, as where some other automakers aren't. Hope that helps.

I also have that kind of prob with my Odyssey. I tried to burn into normal CD-R with audio format but the head unit cant read the file inside. But the things is that CD-R have 2 type

1. Normal CD-R - you can burn and play using CD Rom
2. CD-R but for Audio recording only which is just like the same but differ line recording.

So try find the CD-R that use for Audio recording which is just same like the original Cds in the store.

I hope this will hope ... it works for my Ody HU ....
