oil pressure

What is normal oil pressure in a 4.0? I have 10w30 in it and it is about 41 psi @2000 rpm and 20 psi @ idle hot. Is this the norm with these? I am wondering since I recently bought it (2000 Cherokee) and am doubting the previous owners maintenance.

Re: oil pressure

the oil pressure spec for the 4.0 is minimum 13 at idle and 37-75 above 1600 rpm. max psi is 75

I doubt that you have any problems in that area with the figures you quoted above.

The 10w30 will do you good for summer but I would seriously consider using a 0w30 in the winter to give you the starting ease and quick lube in the cold weather you have. You likely wouldn't have any problems using the 0w30 year round either though some might have other opinions.
