go to an autoparts store and look at a haynes manual, they are pretty good about having schematics in the back of the book. However, here is some points that can help. However, if I remember correctly, these escorts had only radios, no tape in them. Therefore the only wires you should have in the dash is the dash light circuit that turns on the lights when you turn on the headlights. This circuit runs through the dimmer switch to control brightness (think it is the yellow/red stripe). The power circuit is controlled by the ignition switch (think it is was code light blue/red stripe). and the speaker and antenna wires. you can use a circuit tester light to trace the power sources. If you had a combination radio/tape with the big pigtails (2 of them) of wires that connected to the back of the radio, DON'T CUT THE WIRES OR PIGTAILS OFF. Go to Wal-Mart an auto store and buy the pigtail connectors for that year. This will save lots of time and headaches since they are wired to match the car. you just have to connect your cd player wires to the pigtail. The packaging will tell you where to connect the wires. As for the grounding, Ford grouded the radios thru the chasis, there was no seperate wire for grounding. Hope this helped.
