Engine oil level

I have a 97 GS, the engine oil reads full with the engine off, but with the engine running it consitently reads 3 inches above full. I have never had this problem before with this car or any other car. Could this be an indication of a problem?

Re: Engine oil level

As long as its full off, youre good.

It reads high when running because the oil is sloshing around in there lubricating stuff, giving the illusion of a higher level.

The only thing you need to check while running is the trans fluid, and some cars now have it set up to be read while the motors off.
