Restoration - 35th Anniv. Camaro
Tore this one apart and gave it a good polish. This model was from my early days, it's straight Krylon red, no clear, no primer. I like it. I'd already built this model once, and my bro spilled an entire jar of flat black on it, so I scrapped the model and donated the engine and seats to Will's black 69 Camaro. I pulled this one back out and the engine and interior were really nice, but the paint was way below par to be put back on the shelf, so I had to do something! Whatcha think?

I like it!! I love the decals. I wish there was a way you could savage them and use them on the new paint job.

Re: Restoration - 35th Anniv. Camaro
looks like a nice build, especially the window trims. This kit was a big PITA for me from the front bumper to the rear spoiler that will not line up for crap. I think Revell kits are more challenging in that you have to do a lot of custom work to make it look nice and perfect. btw I have the stripe decals that I didn't use if you want them.

I have a spare set of stripes, but I decided it would be easier to just polish the existing paint than it would be to strip and repaint the whole car. I think it came out okay, for being a model I built years ago.
I know what you mean about the ill-fitting front bumper, I had to do it twice! |

looks good. Yeah, after all the work you have to do with the front bumper, the panel lines arent even correct. If you search, you can see how I fixed mine.

I saw the thread you did about this model, and how you fixed it. It came out looking really good. I'll put a lot more work into it the next time I build this car, I've got the kit already, it's 2 down in the Camaro pile. I plan on doing it in Sunset Orange Metallic.

I've found that using acrylic flat black for window trim is very forgiving if your hand gives a little wobble. Then again, I use acrylic paints for everything
![]() Edit: I dug up an interior shot I took during the process. I guess the rest are on the other computer. |
