a revving surging noise

I just bought a 1993 del sol with a rebuilt engine from an Acura Integra, it is a 1.8L DOHC VTEC. My buddy and I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to stop the surging noise, when it idles it sounds like someone is revving the engine - like a surging. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how can I go about correcting it??
thanks!!

Re: a revving surging noise

look on your throttle body on the intake manifold (where the air intake attaches). There should be a flathead screw in there... just one. Try turning it a little to the left/right and see if that helps at all. If it doesn't, it might be your IAB's, your IACV, yadda yadda

Re: Re: a revving surging noise

on top of what she said it might also be your timming a few teeth ahead. I just had a simmalar problem and it was my timming. and also what engine do you have a b18 or an LS VTEC because 1.8's are generally b18's and b18's do not come with VTEC. and if you have an LS VTEC what kinda stats does it have hoarse and torque?
