Fuel Filter removal
I am having a hard time removing the fuel filter on a 1997 ford ranger. I bought a special tool that is suppose to remove it, but I still cannot get it off. I think I might need to release the pressure in the lines to get it off. I cannot figure out how to do this either. So I have two quesitons: Can someone tell me how to get the filter off and/or release the fuel pressure!
If someone knows how to get it off please let me know. I have been messing with this stupid thing forever! Thanks in advance! |

Re: Fuel Filter removal
there are two types of lines. one has a clip that you have to pry out with a screwdriver and then the line comes off. the other you take the tool that slides around the line and push it in the end of line and pull off at the same time.

I Did
I have tried what you said. For some reason the little tool that goes inside of the connection will not break the line. I can get the one side off with a screwdriver, but the other side is a pain. I released the pressure from the lines thinking that it was clogged, but that did not work. I push the tool in a pull and it will not pop.

Re: Fuel Filter removal
not sure what to tell you other than put an open end wrench on tool and push tool in with the wrench for more pressure. don't try to pull on line, just push on tool with wrench! good luck
