Angry What the hell is wrong now

As most all of you know, i pulled my engine, and i got it back in...I finally replaced that torn tranny seal on the passenger side. This is what prevented me from driving my car...The thing is, when i start my car and let it idle for as long as i want, no leaks...When i drive it and pull it in the garage and let it idle, there's a constant drip of what seems to be oil...I got under there and looked everywhere to see where it was coming from. My downpipe was covered, oil pan and my cat...I rubbed my finger in it, and it has no scent really. It looks exactly like oil. I was thinking, maybe that tranny seal didn't seat completely? And since it doesn't leak when i just start it and let it idle, but leaks after driving, it could be coming from there because the axle is rotating and it's coming out...I looked at the seal, but that doesn't help because i didn't wipe off the gear lube from before the seal was shot....I'm going to wipe everything down tomorrow when it's a little nicer outside, let it idle, look for leaks, then drive it and look to see where it's coming from....I just can't pinpoint it...I even tightened my oil pan drain plug and the bolts that go to the oil pan to the block. My oil return line is bone dry to my surprise. I made my own gaskets for that, ran the car pretty hard yesterday and it's holding up....But either gear lube or motor oil is coming from somewhere...I don't get it...

Oh yeah, and yesterday when i actually got to drive the car, me and my friend didn't bother putting the hood on, being it was just a quick test drive....I got pulled over! Luckily I got off with just a warning

Re: What the hell is wrong now

The only pointer I would give is that oil only moves backwards from the leak, not forwards. And it doesnt go too far sideways either in most cases. Any chance the drivers side axle seal is bollixed as well? Thats a tough one since its above the tcase. Actually, you are FWD so it should be easy enough to see from under the car. Wiping down and checking again is a good idea.

Re: What the hell is wrong now

found the leak...there was this hole in the block, near the bracket for the intake manifold...a threaded hole. no fuckin clue why there is a threaded hole in the back of the block that just spits out oil...anyway, i looked closer and there looks like there was a gasket that used to be on the bolt that went into it....is there a purpose for this hole?

Re: What the hell is wrong now

I remember that POS. I want to say its the hole for checking the position of the rear balance shaft, but I also seem to remember that being right next to the oil pump cover, at the timing belt end of the motor. The one you are describing is more in the middle of the block if I remember correctly. Yeah, no idea what that is for. That'll do it though, easy fix too.
