Oil Leak

I noticed the other day that I had some pools of oil on the block near the oil filter. This is on a 94 2.2 camry engine. I cleaned it up but its back today. The filter is on tight and doesnt appear to be leaking so what else it up there that can leak?

Between the filter and the block, there is an oil cooler. There is an "O" ring that seals the cooler to the block. Mine did the same thing and it was an easy and cheap fix. The dealer that sold me the o-ring made a copy of the blowup view showing how it all goes together. Once the filter is off, you will see a a nut on the threaded shaft that the filter screws onto. Remove the nut and pull the cooler away from the block. (No need to remove to coolant lines). Remove the old o-ring, which is probably broken, clean surface, put on new o-ring, and you should be all set.

Thumbs up Oil Cooler Gasket And O-ring

I replaced both the oil cooler's gasket and o-ring. If anyone wants to see photos of the procedure, send me an e-mail ([email protected])
