Situation: I walk my two dogs, while I drive car, (disabled) and go about 0-5 mph. Three weeks ago, noticed slight shake in steering wheel in drive, put it in neutral she stops. (Usually engine runs smooth as silk). Check engine light went on, then off and has never come back on again.
After about a a week the whole car starts shaking when I accelerate and approach 50MPH and stops when I get it over 60MPH. Or, it will stop shaking, if during acceleration I Take foot off gas, Now, I've noticed at night, since shake has gotten worse, that even going 0-5MPH the inside lights, dash, etc. are shaking too, diming, brightening, etc. Mechanic never put it on computer! Replaced a round thingy (of which there are three and I can't remember the name) by the engine and said I was running on only 4 cyliners. NOW...everything should be OK! Bull, as I drove away, the shake was still there. Took back, put on computer and here's what it said: 341 intermittant cam signal 321 No IBX ignition pulse ....or is it I8X(cant read his writing) 300 misfire detected (he said this was because of the part he replaced)_ Its getting progressivey worse. Yesterday while accelerating up hill, not taking my foot off the gas, with car shaking it bucked or slipped or something about 3 times. I'm wondering after reading some of the posts if it is not the tranny. One last note, last week put it in reverse to back out of carport, and it made a fairly loud noise. Drove a mile down road to Monroe muffler and had them check and I was one half down in the tranny fluid. Please, let me know what is going on here guys, if you can. This car, since I bought it 5 years ago now, has been nothing less than a monstrous piece of crap. thanks JOyce |

for the check engine light going on and off that could be a loose battery cable or the altinator going bad also you may have a leak causing you to loose tranny fluid

Re: `95 Delta 88 SHAKING ETC
hi ATV - thanks for the input. Question, does a tranny make a car shake? I dont know, never had a bad one yet. Also, what about the codes the computer put out? Oh, and no the engine light is not going on and off, it only went on one time when the trouble first started?

We had alot of problems at one time with our '94 Royale shaking and losing power under heavy loads of the accelerator, and it would stop doing this when you let off the accelerator. We replaced the entire coil pack (probably the main cause of the problem) as well as the spark plug wires and the fuel rail, and it's worked perfectly for 25,000+ miles. Hope this helps. The work can be easily performed by a shadetree mechanic with an elementary knowledge of automobiles, and we spent less than $100 on total parts, as they were all used/rebuilt.

Re: `95 Delta 88 SHAKING ETC
Thanks M Bowan. Sounds like to me that it could be those things you said. I wonder tho, would any of that stuff cause the dash lights and other lights inside car dim and bright, to the beat of the shake, when I am idling in drive?
Thanks for your help again, Joyce |

Hold the phone. Re-reading your initial post (which I didn't do carefully enough the first time), I see that your mechanic has already replaced a part of the coil pack (the "round thingy"). We, too, did this, and it didn't cure anything. Then, we replaced the whole coil pack (the "box" that the round things with numbers are attatched to), and that was what cured out problem.
