2004 Grand Cherokee Failure to Start
I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited, last week as I was leaving work, I put my key in the ignition and the engine failed to turn. It made no attempt to turn over what so ever. This is the second time I have had this problem, neither time was there any indication leading up to the car not starting. On both occasions the dealers have replaced the starter. I am certain that was not the problem. I had this problem with a 99 Grand Cherokee in the past and when the toe truck arrived the driver said it was a glitch in the security system. He knew just how to reset it and I was able to start the car and drive home. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks, Terry

Re: 2004 Grand Cherokee Failure to Start
Try placing the transmission in NEUTRAL and see if it starts.

Im having the same problem with my 95 grand cherokee. I can turn it to where the radio comes on, the antenna goes up, that position on my ignition works fine. When i go to start it nothing happens at all. it doesnt even make a sound. It first did it about a week ago and it started fine after the about 3 times of trying. Now it doesnt want to do anything. If you find out what is wrong with yours please reply back.

Re: 2004 Grand Cherokee Failure to Start
if you get the same thing after putting the tranny shifter in NEUTRAL, Check for voltage at the Starter Solenoid while having somewhere turn the key to start the jeep. If you get VOLTAGE the the STARTER is bad. If NO VOLTAGE then the Ignition Switch is most likely the problem.
NOTE: the NSS could be the problem but ussually will operate in NEUTRAL. |
