Just let them die!
I am sure everyone has heard about everything happening with Schiavo and The Pope. Why the hell cant we just let them die and do it with dignity? I flipped past the nbc nightly news and they said something about keeping on brodcasting until the Pope dies...what the hell? The second that he dies everyone doesnt need to know. He is a person just like everyone else, if you have a friend who is dying you dont sit there and do a countdown till death, you hope for the best and let them go, that is if you really do care about them. I saw a lady in the news saying how shocked she was about the Pope dying, he is like 80 something, people die when they get old its a fact of life. I dont know exactly where I am going with this, just figured I would post what I am pissed off about with society and the media with this whole deal. Bleh.

I really think that the media should be disgusted with themseves right now. I mean not a day after Terri dies, do they start with 24 hour coverage of the Pope's finial days. I was wacthing CNN when the reports of his death came out and their news crawl thing said "Pope John Paul II has died" This was from reports, the cardinal that comes out and tells the world when the pope dies, has not come out and said it. its disgusting. I hope i'm not the only one who thinks this

Its not entirely the media's fault - not by a long shot. They're only doing stories that people want to hear about. I agree that the oversaturation aspect is annoying but its what the majority of the people want to know about.

Re: Just let them die!
The question is, do you want to get interested, or do you just get interested because it is pushed in your face all the time? I for one do not need garbage like this.......

It's sad because it'll only get worse (so long as a profit is to be made).
TV is finally getting interesting, can't wait until a show like "The Running Man" comes on.

I'm sick of it being on them 24 hrs a day. I mean is there really nothing else going on AT ALL in the world that can be talked about. I mean shit, I missed my morning business shows on Fox b/c of this Pope thing. Tell us when he has passed or word is given from The Vatican. But by all means don't just repeat yourself 1 million times an hour.

Don't want to see/hear about it?
Don't watch or listen to it then. There's this really handy dandy little thing called the on/off switch/button. |

yes but we are surrounded by it... it's the fact that peoples dying moments are exploited shamelessly, no matter if my TV is on or off.

I wanted to know the minute the pope died, he's my country's and the world's hero. I've bin praying for the pope since thursday... and he deserved the worlds eyes on him at his death. He was IMO the most important person in the entire world |

Re: Just let them die!
They're both gone now, one in an inordinate blaze of media attention, 11th hour political maneuvering and court appeals.
The other, in a well deserved blaze of media attention, dignity, and hopefully, peace.

For me it has nothing to do with turning it on or off. My problem is that they seem to circle around people waiting for them to die. I mean Friday i was wacthing CNN, they told the people wacthing that the Pope had already died. The first news crawl simply said that they had heard that he died. Only later did they change it rumors say he has died. But either way, they had no offical word so they should have shut up. |

Both of them are now dead, so the starter of this thread should be happy. Now let's just stop arguing and let them rest in peace.

Re: Just let them die!
does anyone find it ironic that the pope died within 3 days of schiavo during easter?
