Help! 1991 Sierra 1.8 Starting problem..
Hi Guys,
I have a Ford Sierra 1991 chasseur estate model 1.8 dohc i think I have this problem where when I turn over the key, nothing happens. All the lights come on on the dash and the new battery is fine. Even got a guy to jump it with the leads with no luck. So it's not a flat battery. The only thing I get is a tick tock indicator like noise coming from the right of the dashboard. Which starts as soon as I unlock the car and open the door. I have had this problem in the past, but unlocking the doors a couple of times seemed to get rid of it. I suspect it is an immobiliser security thing that has blocked the electrics from starting the starter motor. I'm not even sure If my model has an immobiliser though... Any ideas what I should do? If it's something I can't fix myself i may need to call someone in can you advise me where to call - I guess a normal garage wouldn't be able to fix it.? |

Re: Help! 1991 Sierra 1.8 Starting problem..
Sabunab, if you go under your dash driver side you'll find the offending relay clicking it's life away, if you unclip the plug and reconnect it should stop it clicking then the vehicle will start. if it continues to click after one disconnection then retry as it will eventually stop. as for changing it you might find buying one from scrap yard might solve the problem totally but i wont guarantee that. good luck.
