Bench Seat to Bucket Seat - Need Help!

Howdy:

I have a 1990 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext. Cab with a 60/40 split bench seat. I would like to install the bucket seats and console from a 1994 GMC/Chevy ext. cab truck. I have already located the seats, but they are in a different state so I can't take a look at the bolt patterns, etc.

I've been told that the driver's side will fit perfectly, but the passenger side is completely different. The two "outer" holes will work fine, but the two "inner" holes may be a problem. Are there two additional "pre-cut" holes there or do I have to drill? It's hard to tell since my catalytic converter is below it by a few inches. Speaking of which, will the converter cause a problem during drilling?

I'm unsure how the console goes in. Currently, there are two bolts they are located on the "hump" in the middle of the cab that holds the bench seat in. Can I use those two existing holes for the console?

I do appreciate any help in this. I'm trying to decide if this is indeed worth the effort and time. Thanks.

Has anyone ever done this before? How many holes did you have to drill altogether? Was it difficult for either your or the installer to do?

Re: Bench Seat to Bucket Seat - Need Help!

I converted the other way, from the buckets and console to the split bench. The driver side seat will fit fine, no changes required there. The bench part though required me to drill additional holes (2) on the tranny hump. There wasn't anything in the way, I don't think you'll have a problem making the 4 holes you'll need for the console. Hang on to your split bench, the damn things are like gold, you can easily get $400 out of it, if not more. Finding one was a huge pain for me.
