XMission fluid on 1999 Alero

The transmission on my wifes 1999 Alero is starting to shift a bit ackward. Not too bad yet but I picked up some BG ATC Plus today and figured I would give it a try. I always hear that BG is the best. When I didn't see a dipstick I remembered reading about this strange, sealed up transmission.

How do I get the xmission treatment in? How do I keep from over filling the xmission?

There is a filler hole located on the driver's side top of the tranny. As to checking the level. Looking from underneath, there is a level check hole located on the passenger side of the tranny by the transaxle/CV housing. The plug/bolt covering the hole is located adjacent to the engine oil drain plug. Needless to say the car has to be jacked up on all fours. It must be level.

The engine/tranny has to be warm, in park, undo plug, ATF will drip out when at proper level.

Before adding any additive, you might want to think about basic tranny service consisting of filter and replenishing ATF (Dextron-III). Then add the BG ATC Plus or product such as Lubegard.

Thanks for the advice, I got it flushed and they put in my can of BG. The dealer said 50K is a good to have the tranny serviced. She is running a little smoother.

dude ill warn ya....the repair is only temporary....i did the same thing to my car and its bombing out 3 mos later....so it it does get back to its shitty shape....you have been warned.....sry dude

Yeah, I've decided to do my power flush and filter change every 30K miles. My mom just ran into tranny issues with her 1999 Blazer, and now I'm affraid of ever having that happen to me.
