Angry Stupid service engine light

Ok.. So my service engine light came on and i got it checked out. They said one of the cylinders is miss firing. So i figured it was spark plugs and plug wires. I changed them and it ran fine for about 3 or 4 days. Well yesterday my car starting driving rough again and the light came back on. It only really seems to do it when i get on the gas pettle hard but sometimes it will do it when im not getting on it. Anyone have any suggestions before i take it somewhere to get it looked at? I hope it isnt a bad cylinder.

Re: Re: Stupid service engine light

I actually just had the service engine soon come on in my eclipse. I took it to the dealership they put it on the machine and it had a misfire. All they had to do was reset the computer and it fixed the problem. So i'd look into that

that doesnt mean it fixed the problem. that just means that the light is not on anymore

Actually it fixed the problem because the car isn't stutering nor is it misfiring anymore, and it was before the computer was reset.

Re: Stupid service engine light

I've alsohad the same problem with mine. resetting the code would only last about 5 miles of driving everytime they did it. But I had something strange happen to me I hit a ditch pretty hard the other day and my light went of but then about 300 miles later the light can back on and it started riding rough under load again....

Re: Stupid service engine light

Yah my car had the same exact problem. All i did was take it to the Mitsubishi dealership and they said they had to reset it. He told me that if it were to happen again, they would have to take the engine apart to figure out what it was. Ive had my eclipse now for a lil over a year (04 GTS) and i have had nothing but problems with it. Miss fire on the cylinder, problem with tires and rims, tie rods went bad, bearings went bad and more to list.
