Question about Tamiya Mclaren mp4/4 wheels...

Hi,

I am wondering if the Studio 27 Mclaren mp4/5b aluminum wheel set upgrade (STFP2018) would be appropriate or period correct to use on the Tamiya mp4/4 kit. I would like to think so, but do you know for certain?

Thank you.
Adam

Re: Question about Tamiya Mclaren mp4/4 wheels...

In theory they should be fairly similar, five or six spoke Speedlines. But why would you want aluminium wheels anyway? They'd only have to be painted black.

Re: Question about Tamiya Mclaren mp4/4 wheels...

UPDATE: just checked the Tamiya kits and the rear rims are identical, with six spokes. However the MP4/4 has six spokes at the front while the MP4/5B only has five. Of course check your references, there may have been races in 1988 where McLaren used five spoke front wheels. Might be difficult to tell on some pictures because it is all black in there!

Ah, many thanks Rallyraider. BTW, I'm most impressed with your modeling skills. Your rally cars in particular simply have no equal as far as I'm concerned.
