I have a 1990 accord ex-r that wont start. i dont know whts wrong with it. It used to crank but now it wont crank it wont do anything. I put in a fully charged battery and new spark plugs and its still wont start/crank. When i stick the key in with the door on i'll hear the ding/clock turns on and once the try to start it every dies, nothing stills on (no clock radio light, nothing)
How do i fix this problem? I have no idea what to do, someone please help me out it'll be greatly appreicated. |

Check your battery cables. You have all the indications of a bad connection at the battery. If you have a volt meter, hook it up at the cables. When you try to crank the engine, the voltage at the cables should be between 10.5 -12.5 volts.

ok can you tell me excatly where to hook the cables, i have a volt meter ready to test i just dont know where to hook it up. please and thank you

On the battery cables right at the battery but not on the battery posts. Also if the ground connection is not good to the frame, you will have the same problem. After you check the voltage at the terminals, take the neg. and check from trhe frame to see if that may be bad.

hi, i checked the battery cables and i found out that it was not grounded properly. How does that affect my car and battery?

Only the negative cable should be grounded. If it is not connected tightly, the lights will not work and the starter will not work. Just like the symptoms you had.
