IS300 vs. TL Type S

Ok...I was driving today as a passanger in my parents' 2000 Maxima (my mom was driving) and I saw a really good race. Of course I was upset I wasn't driving the VR4...there may have been a different car end up in front .

Anyway, My mom is up around 75mph on the highway and she says "this guy's in a hurry". A black and very nice Lexus IS300 goes by us at around 95+. I recognized the car and commented on how the guy is an idiot. A couple of seconds later, a black 2002ish TL Type S flew by around the same speed. Both very nice cars. They cruised for a minute at about 100 and when they finished passing traffic the Lexus hit it in the outside lane and the Type S went hard on the inside. I'm not sure if the Lexus is lightly modded or not, but this was one close race. They went side by side until I would estimate 130mph when they came up on traffic. The TL started a car behind when he switched lanes, and ended up about dead even with the IS, although he had to brake because of the car he was FLYING up on. After that they went their seperate ways. I think the Type S was a tad faster, but all in all, very close. It felt extremely odd to be spectatoring for once.

Yeah, it really is weird spectating. But always exciting, because you know you are safe from a distance. Other than that, that would have been a good race to watch. L8...

Post if memory serves...

i think C&D (or maybe R&T) did a sport sedan road test with these two among others. if i recall, both scored prety high, but when it came right down to it, the TL edged out the IS. but like i said, let me double check my facts. and for the record, that would be a fun race to watch!

i HATE spectating a good race, if I'm not in my vr4 I always kick myself. Interesting race though...

Igovert500, I'm glad I was spectating in retrospect. Read my last reply in my latest post in the 3000gt forum and you'll know why . It was a really good race though, very evenly matched. Had I been involved, it would have happened to me at high speeds.

Re: IS300 vs. TL Type S

I'm surprised the type-S didn't walk away from the IS.

wow, snapped driveshaft...sorry man, what is it with everyone having horrible luck with their 3000gts recently? You, Gateway, and Musashi are making my plaguing problems look miniscule. Very sorry to hear it.

i would be too if the TL wasn't so damn heavy. my friend has a CL-S and eventhough he makes more HP than me he still gets beat regularly.
