Recommendations on Subs

I am new to car audio and have been reading alot about which amps and subs are good. After a long time of looking through the forum and looking at prices, I have decided to go with the Hifonics BX1500D amp. I dont have a big budget, Im in college, and was wondering what subs would go well with this. Im looking for somewhat good sound quality at a low price around 200. I know you cant get amazing quality for that price but I dont really need it. Thanks

The SE Series from RE audio
www.reaudio.com
call for direct pricings (i think a 12" is 185)

Well, superior to that...I'd look into a single Lethal Injection series from Incriminator Audio. (www.incriminatoraudio.com) Direct sales are through Visionary Audio. peace

Re: Recomendations on Subs

so just that 1 sub should be enough for that amp? i guess it would be fine cause i dont care about the loudness, but should i get an amp that is 500/1 rms or what? cause that might be cheaper.

i also dont want to be able to blow it out, say if one of my friends drives my car and abuses its power.

Re: Recomendations on Subs

with properly set gains...blowing the woofer is hard...the SE's and the LI's can both take a beating... a BX1500 wired to 2 ohms is rated at 1000w but is probably closer to 700-800w@14v... SE can easily handle that. 600wRMS is actual RMS and unless you plan on playing test tones for fun 700w wont hurt them. just be easy on the gains... no clipping.
LI can handle it as well.
along with these there is the Adire Koda if they ever get off back order and the Avalance 12 if it ever comes out....

Re: Recomendations on Subs

oh BTW Inciminator has decent SQ...not excelent SQ... i had the priviliage of hearing both a DP and an LI this past week. really IMO their SQ isnt all that much better than DD. however these things slamed... so really you could look at a DD 3512 as well. in a box tuned to 35Hz the guy with the LI 12 said he hit a 139.9 @45Hz on new TL. and i beleive him...

When and where ?

Also, SQ is subjective. You CANNOT just make a general statement on one subwoofer's "Sound Quality". Doubt you notice too much of a difference head to head in proper SQ installs

Re: Recomendations on Subs

the past week in daytona, some guy named dave. i dont know i met him on the beach... he was cranking it and i had to walk over and talk to him just to see what he had. im not saying it was bad but compared to the brahma installs and XXX installs i have done/heard it wasnt as good. like i said compareable to DD.

Eh, If i did the proper box like tuned to 28hz or so. Andif he deadened the hell out of his trunk. It'd be A LOT better.

Well, if you were talking about it utned to 45ish Hz...no wonder...

I'm saying, there wouldn't be a HUGE SQ difference in the EXACT same install b/w an SE and an LI...the LI though would prolly have over 2dB's more output on average
