Ported and Flappered or not?
Well as i posted a thread earlier about blowing my evo16g tdo5, and getting the China GT one. I have decided to sell it. I have decided to kjust get the real thing with dyno numbers proven. The GT is pretty freaking strong though it almost seems exactly alike. But i rather have the real thing.
My question is should I get it ported and flappered? Or just ported? I wanna get something im going to be happy about and not change it. Knowing me i'll probably blow it in like 2 days

Re: Ported and Flappered or not?
If the Evo GT is working well, and you're happy with it, keep it! It's not worth the hassle and money to get the real one if you already have a GT installed, IMO. Speaking as someone who just did this to 3 turbo bolts:
![]() the fewer turbo swaps you do, the less hassle! I would run the EvoGT until it blows--or maybe it won't!? You can get it on the dyno, and set the standard for numbers on this turbo. In other words, I think it would be worth keeping the turbo on the car if you're happy with it. As an added bonus you would be testing the turbo for its longevity and power capabilities ![]() But to answer your question, I would get the turbine housing ported and the 34mm flapper if you're running low boost as a street car. If you want to deal with creep and you want to be able to hold 27 psi at the track on race gas, don't get the flapper. Another thing to consider is getting the turbo and putting a 7cm housing on it...no port job, just a 7cm housing like ShapeGSX has on his 11second Evo16g.

Re: Ported and Flappered or not?
Im thinking of putting that cutout on my stock DP. Since i have 2 stockdownpipes and can switch it when smog comes. I turned on the car with no downpipe, and it sounded crazy mean like you wouldnt believe. My neighbors came out thinking its a muscle car. it was hilarious.
I kinda liked the thought at being at a light with a muscle car next to me, flipping the switch and sounding mean as heck.

Re: Ported and Flappered or not?
theres acouple sleeper cars around here that have that.... they have a high flow downpipe and then place that vavle in place of the cat , and then bolt on the stock exhaust after that.... he drives around with the exhaust exiting the stock cat-back and when some one wants to race he flips the switch and it bypasses the catback and dumps straing out under the car.... instant horsepower...
