Stalling problem with 2003 Mercury Sable

My 2003 sable stalls on an irregular basis. It seems to have something to do with the idle rpm. I brought it into mercury service once and they could not find the problem, they said to bring it back when it got worse.
What happens is I will be stopped or coming to a stop & the idle kind of "dips" & the car stalls it usually starts right up again but sometimes will not. Anyone with any suggestions as to what the problem might be? I have a service appointment for Mon 4-4.

Try sitting at idle with the AC turned off. If it doesn't dip it must have something to do with the AC. If so, have the compressor checked out for binding. My 2000 sable was dipping at stop lights so the first thing I decided to try was changing the fuel filter and it seems o.k. now. Pete
