ignition

I have a 91 mustang, 2.3L automatic 2 door. one day I tried to start my car but I forgot that the keys were not in the ignition. to my dismay the car still started, and now I have a problem. at any time my car starts without the key, which means anybody could steal my car without the keys. any help on how to fix this problem?

Re: ignition

It is easy to remove the ignition and put a new one in. You just broke the lock cylinders inside. You should have two screw holding the plastice on around your streering column.
1. Remove the screws
2. Remove the 2 piece covers

Now you should have a little hole on the right side of your steering column near the ignition.
1. Locate it
2. Turn your ignition to the on position
3. A little pin will pop up if you found the hole
4. Get like a small allen tool or something to push down on the pin
5. Slip the old ignition lock cylinder out
6. Turn the new on to the on position
7. Line it up with the cut outs and slide it in

Make sure that little pin is back up to keep the module in place and you are done
Older cars have a tendency to do that. After a few years you wear it down with starting it and sliding the key in and out
I have a 3 Mustang and a 94 Ford Explorer that I can slide the key out while I am driving, but I can not start them without the keys. Do not worry. It is nothing major
