how do I know where to set the tps sensor?

I replaced my TPS sensor, when I was installing it I noticed that it was able to be adjusted before tightened just by truning it and tightening it at a given spot. How do I know where to set it?

I would love to help, but I have no clue what car/motor this is on. Thanks.

Might as well put that into your signature. Its under "User CP" towards the top.

Re: Re: how do I know where to set the tps sensor?

The real question is did you get the memo? Because your TPS report doesn't have the new coverpage. Sorry I couldn't resist.

If you can get someone else to get you a reading off their sensor you can adjust it so that it puts out the same voltage at idle. Push the voltage higher usually means better response. Note that info isn't mitsu specific but thats how they work. You need to figure out the standard voltage (stock) or tune it yourself.

Re: how do I know where to set the tps sensor?

Cant help on that motor, other than to say check the manual. There is generally a procedure involving using a multimeter and setting the TPS to a particular resistance. I prefer using a logger to set throttle closed TPS to 0%. Just being a couple percent off can prevent the throttle closed fuction from working and you wont get closed loop idle control. Any obd2 logger should work, most scan tools too, if you can borrow one of those. Otherwise, just do the meter trick in the manual.
