I need some help

I am looking to buy a car which is fast, reliable, and and whose running costs are not too high. I have about $7,000. I am considering a camaro lt1 or a 96 eclipse gs-t. I want to know which is a better overall car, and here any other suggestions you may have.

Re: I need some help

definetely not the GS-T. That car is fun as hell to drive, but it breaks down often and very expensive to maintain. I wouldnt say the camaros reliability record is perfect, but at least they are cheap and easy to work on.

Re: I need some help

Test drive them both and see which you like more, but I'd have to somewhat agree with the others. The camaro will be cheaper, parts will be cheaper, and it is probably easier to work on. On the other hand, the eclipse maybe cheaper to insure (not sure on that one) and would be cheaper on gas (I think) Research them both, test drive them both, and make a decision your happy with.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

ha, tegs are tight as hell. first, stock against stock its not like the cammy would have more than a car length or so from a dig. depends on the driver. second, if you want to go 120 around the off-ramp you want the eclipse...cammy lacks in handling compared to the agile dsm. not sure about the gas mileage. also not sure about the price and availibility of parts favoring either side. third, ill admit, the reliability of the turbo is iffy at some points, my gsx has had its problems. BUT, spend another 500 bucks or so and swap that bad boy out for a 16g or something like that. and the turbo department is covered. i havent had a problem relating to my turbo since. that cammy's 6spd would be fun to have though. hah...i guess im no help to you. both cars are easily modded and have great potential. guess the question is do you want to hear "gurgle gurgle gurgle" or "vrrooooommmmm waaaaaa pshhhhhh". sorry so long

Re: I need some help

a z28 runs the 1/4 mile about a second faster than an integra, thats alot more than a car length. Also, I would hardly consider a DSM agile. The Stereotype that F-bodies handle poorly is hogwash.

guess that kind of did come out wrong. i was comparing the cammy to the gst not the teg. opinions are like assholes, everybody has one.

1993 teg gsr...0-60=6.5secs...1320=15.2
slalom=67.6
curb weight=2690 lbs

1993 cammy...0-60=5.8...1320=14.4
slalom=60
curb weight=3360 !didnt know it was lighter than the gst!

1995 gst...0-60=6.1secs...1320=14.9
slalom=64.1
curb weight=3681 lbs

raw facts from a google search hah. according to the 0-60, from a dig the cammy would not be more than a car length ahead. i like all cars and each can be made just as quick as the next.

Re: I need some help

it would be much more than 1 car length, every .1 seconds = about 1 car lenth [6.5] - [5.8] = .7
so even if i am half wrong, its still 2-4 car lengths ahead.... itll be much more than 1 though

Re: I need some help

look buddy...im not comparing the teg to the cammy, im comparing it to the gst. as i said in my first sentence of my last post. GST VS. CAMMY...it all depends on the driver and their launch. both cars kick ass. the classic small engine with forced induction vs. big displacement engines. .1 seconds is one car length huh? dam...i didnt know that. thats crazy. i would think it would be more like .3 or .4 secs. an integra could walk a camaro with the right driver. all about how well people can drive their cars
