pontiac 6000 how many miles do you think it will go

i was gonna buy a pontiac 6000 for my daughter it has 222000 miles on it its been in the same family w good service records . could i get another 50,000 out of it. its for 500 bucks

Is it original engine, drive train , has it been rebuilt ?


If its orignial it probably wont last because over 200,000 miles stuff is gonnna go on it regardless of how well it was maintained.

But for 500 bucks its not bad, again depends on the condition.......

I have a 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE and it has almost 304,000 miles on it. I have had the car for about 7 years it my first and only vehicle i own, i didnt take care of it and im regreting it now because shes (the car) starting to fall apart on me.

The 2.5 motors are strong. They don't have a ton of power but they seem to run for a long time. The one concern with them is the timing gear. If the timing gear goes, they're done. The cost to repair is more than the worth of the car.

I inherited a 3.1 as my first car. 1990 Pontiac 6000 LE. It had 150k miles on it hwen i carelessly totalled it, and it would have gone many more. htey are very strong, and not many people have them. I say get it.

I had a 1986 6000LE with the 2.5 liter..A very good and depedable car..had 250,000 miles on it when I sold it and it is still around to this very day....The body will rot out before the Iron Duke will quit..I would say buy it...

For five hundred buy it now! Ive had 2 my dad has one now, I had over 300k on each of mine and my dad has 312,500 on his and he has absolutely no problems. They are very dependable. Book an a 91 is around 1800 high resale. If I found one for that much around here I would buy it even if I didn't need it. My dad bought his last year at auction for 900. Yours is a good buy if its not beat up. I live in montana and we have bad roads and some hard winters, there are tons of those cars around here and they hold up well. Another good thing is there were tons of them so if you ever need junkyard parts they are easy to find and repairs are generally pretty cheap on those.

Boy some great advice there. How can you say unequivically that over 200k things will go bad no matter what??

BUY IT thats a good price for that car with a very reliable 3.1 engine in it. There is a guy on the web somewhere driving an 86 or 87 STE with 500k on it so dont listen to people who will tell you something is GOING to happen.

Probably you will need to repair things but I bet if you take care of it and dont beat on it, it will last ya another 100k easy.
