when u say "when the tank is low", how low is it. If you are running on fumes, it will start to whine as the pump is lubricated by the gasoline in the tank. if low but not quite to fumes yet, could be just the fuel sloshing around and not all of it getting to the pump.

Re: whiny fuel pump?
the best way to burn out your fuel pump is to always run your tank low.
Someone that I used to work with got a saying from his dad that is very true. It cost's the same amount to keep the top 1/2 of your gas tank full as the bottom 1/2. And then you'll never run out of gas |
