Define street truck.. It's going to be difficult to tell you because it could be any year of ranger.. ??? What generation is it? Is the older boxy 80's or the newer 90's style... Is it pretty new? Tranny swaps in the home garage are never easy, man. I just changed a tranny in a 87 Marquis, I busted my knuckes all to hell on that piece.

Re: swaps

Also helpful to know which motor is in it. If its a 4-cyl 2.3 you can do one fairly easily. One of the other fixes you'll want to do though is getting another steering column (assuming of course, the auto is on the column) because let's be honest, if you're streeting this truck out the last thing you want is a limp shifter sticking out of the column. You'll also want to decide before hand which engine you want to drop in it, and wait until you've got your engine to match up a tranny with. I know I wouldn't want to replace a tranny for my 2.3 just to turn around and get a 2.9 v-6 and have to hunt down ANOTHER tranny to match up. Have fun!
