Nelson or Hypertech?

Ok, I got sort of a big question here. I am thinking of modding or replacing my stock PCM. Nelson has theirs that they send you. Everyone seems to like those. Hypertech has their reprogramming unit. Everyone who has used these seems to like these. What's the difference? Which one is better? Are the chips that Nelson sells just units that got "Hyperteched?" Any info and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Nelson or Hypertech?

Nelson doesnt sell you a chip, they replace your entire pcm. Nelson tunes provide more power than a hypertech but are also much more expensive. Not sure but a nelson pcm is prolly 500-600 where as you can get a hypertech on ebay for around 150-200. I have the high bid on a programmer and ill let you know what i think of it if i get it.

Re: Nelson or Hypertech?

Great! Let me know how it works out. I added about 5 of those Hypertechs for the 02 to my watch list on ebay... just trying to get a feel for how much they normally sell for.

Re: Nelson or Hypertech?

Do a search on the Nelson PCM for his website. They are not that expensive. If Slowprocess reads this he will inform you of the differences as will a lot of others who have used both. Nelson sends you an update if you want to modify anything. 3 free per year. The Hypertech and Superchip reprogrammer will not give you the complete package change that Nelson will. Go Nelson, you won't regret it....

Re: Nelson or Hypertech?

I had a Hypertech when I first got my truck and kept it for 2 years. Then I switched to Nelson's tune and I wouldn't go back for anything. There is no comparison. And as for the price, a hypertech for a 99 was $367 and my Nelson tune was $385...and i get free updates if I change anything.
