Ractive SuperFlow Air Intake System

Alright fellas, I'm going to get an intake. Which is the best? I wanna get some feedback from several people on this one. What about the Ractive Superflow Air Intake System? Is that a good one? I noticed that they're much cheaper than the Iceman Intakes which are like $199 as opposed to the $95 the Ractive's cost. Any ideas? Thnx guys. latez.

Among the choices you listed (I haven't researched this, but if an AEM Cold Air Intake is a possibility, this is your hands down, no contest choice, in spite of cost), your best bet is the Iceman intake. Intakes are pretty cheap performance. If you are really hurting for cash, either wait until you can afford the Iceman, or build your own. The others are cheaper for a reason.

Awesome. Thnx for your help. My friend has a Civic with an Iceman intake and he swears that those are the best, but I'll take your word for it. Why is AEM the best? I've heard that intakes made out of aluminum will conduct heat and that's exactly what you don't want. The cooler air the better. Keep in mind that I don't know jack shit about cars. I just want a good solution for the money. I'm willing to pay around $200. Thnx again man.

Which intake would be a more feasable solution for my car? The AEM Competition Cold Air Intake or just the regular Tube-Style intake?

I don't have a good mental picture of the Accord's engine bay. If it's really packed, you may not be able to use either intake.. though I doubt that at least the "short ram" tube-style intake won't be able to fit.

Your comments are exactly correct about the AEM system. It does, at least in theory, conduct more heat than the Iceman because it is aluminum. However, independent testing (I think Sport Compat Car did a big intake manufacturer comparo two or thre years ago, and the market has not changed much since - you might want to look into the CompTech cold air box, or even the Mugen cold air induction system, though these are pricier still - I think about $600 for the Mugen!) has shown the AEM CAI to make more power, across the board, than the comparable Iceman intake system.

thnx man. how is an intake system different from a cold air induction system? Does CAI mean Cold Air Intake or Cold Air Induction? Would you mind talking on AIM about this stuff? Thnx again.

No problem. A CAI (cold air intake or induction - they're pretty much interchangeable terms - though in AEM's case it's called the Cold Air Intake) uses a longer tube to draw cooler air closer from the road surface. The short ram style intake generally just draws air from the front of the engine bay.. which by the way is not always ideal. Some cars create more air pressure at the rear of the engine bay, right below the windshield wipers. This is obviously a better place to collect the intake air from.

i put "other" i dont like ractive or APC. i like DC DAC. but i would go w/ a Injen CAI & AEM CAI. ive had both on my accords and was satisfied.

Yeah, stay away from APC!!! I got it cuz it was cheap, back when I didnt know anything, and I regret that purchase every day.

Congratulations...you resurrected a thread that was started in 2001. I would assume that whatever purchasing decision he was contemplating has most likely been made in the past half decade. In the future please check the date of the thread before replying to it.
