power locks on '01 civic ex

Noticed the other day that the locks no longer lock when I put the car in gear. The driver side locking switch does nothing either. The remote will lock the doors and I can manually push the drivers side lock down and all doors will lock (I have a four door). I can only unlock via the remote.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Re: Re: power locks on '01 civic ex

That starts with

For anyone who is having problems with there door locks, not opening when using the remote and also if you are in the car and you push the lock/unlock button and they don't pop up, then most likely you actautor is dead.

That is not my problem. The remote works fine and if I manually push the lock down it locks all doors. The unlock/lock switch does not work nor do the locks engage when I put the car in gear.

Re: power locks on '01 civic ex

I'll look harder that was the most read item regarding doors not locking.

EDIT: I looked back through each thread dealing with door locks till Dec 02 I was unable to locate a problem consisting of door locks and put the car in gear. This was a feature I was unaware of myself. I would think this is linked to your alarm in some way. As regards to your problem I appoliguise for not being able to help. Of course Honda will find your problem do you have a warrenty? This is either a stupid easy fix or something so bizzard. Good luck dude. Let me kno the outcome.
