97 explorer- check guage lite

Got a '97 explorer for my daughter.
"Check Gauge" light has come on the dash board.
What does that mean?

I have a 1997 explorer and the light comes on when im low on gas. The manual says that it comes on when any of the gauges are at a dangerous level. on mine its the gas only so far.

It's usually gas, sometimes if you are going down a hill and stop the tank registers as "low" even though it is at a 1/4 tank when flat. It could also be the transmission fluid or antifreeze.

On a related note if you leave the car running when you fill it with gas be careful - I have had the check engine light come on (while riding on the turnpike) because it lost suction!
