Hi, would anyone know how to get my 1990 honda accord running again.
I have a 1990 accord exr. I put in new spark plugs tried to jump start the car but its still wont turn on. Is something draining the battery? What should i do? The car will crank for about 3 seconds then it just dies. the last time i drove the car was about a year ago.

i would like to thank anyone in advance who helps me out, it is greatly appreciated.

Check the water in the battery. Charge the battery, and the battery terminals for corrosion.

Have you checked your distributor? You might need to get a new Igniter coil since that is the first thing that goes out on that year. I've had to replace 2 in one year. Also check the Igniter to.

by igniter coil you mean ignition coil,
yeah the igniter/ Ignition control module might be bad too.

To check both of these, see if you're getting a spark.
Pull a wire off of the spark plug, hold it next to a ground or the block (exhaust manifold works well) make sure you are getting a spark when you crank it over.
Or if you don't like this idea, buy a fake spark plug type ignition tester (~$7) at autozone or somewhere similar, plug it in like a spark plug on a disconnected plug wire, clip it on to a ground, and crank it over for a few seconds. You should get a easily visible spark
While at autozone, have them charge and test the battery, they do this at no charge, takes about an hour.

Couple questions,
Why did you stop driving it all of the sudden?(did it stop running then/ran rough?)
Did you try to jump it off correctly?(give it a couple minutes before trying to crank it?)

So, it's been sitting for a year without being driven? If you didn't keep the battery charged up during that time, the battery may be ruined. Letting batteries become severely discharged can ruin them. And, they do become severely discharged in such situations if not put on a charger at regular intervals to keep them charged up. Even if the drain on the battery in a parked car is only the slight bit of power needed for the clock, they will become severely discharged over a period of months.

You might also have a bad starter. But, I'd get the battery checked first.
