alcad 2 base coat?

What is another paint i can use instead of the alcad gloss black paint? Are acrylics and laquers alright to use? Thanks

I used Tamiya Black (TS-14) with good result (Instruction ask for Enamel base, but it work on Lacquer)

The recommended base coats for Alclad seem to have changed over time. Best advice I can give is to use any black laquer to undercoat. The exceptions are Chrome and Polished Aluminium which should be undercoated with an enamel, like Alclad's black enamel base. The reason the last couple should use enamel is because they don't bite into laquer enough and will rub off if handled.

so bottomline can i just use tamiya's gloss black enamel as base coat for Aclad II any paints ?

Sorry, off-topic but Alvin, your sig is the maddest thing i've seen! And that hamster, respect, I've had this page open for 42mins and he's still banging away!

Must say, I find the horse quite scary. It may give me nightmares!
