Please help! My 91 accord (240k) clutch pedal went down and never came back up. i can see fluid leaking at the front of the motor, middle/passenger side. Is it the slave cylinder? any help would be appreciated. thanks

Re: clutch pedal on floor
Something first... there should be a spring that returns it to top even if the rest of the hydraulic system is completely off. That said, if all else was well it shouldn't just stay down. I would start with adding some fluid and seeing if you can get someone to push the pedal up and down to see if you can spot it leaking. But that's just me...
as far as the fluid: Probably slave cylinder, or somewhere along where it connects. it deffinately sounds like it's around the clutch. I hate hydraulic clutches. I recently had a break hydraulic line that got corroded through too... but from the outside in. Batery acid had gotten down on it. go figure. never seen it happen before, but i guess you could check that as well. And I could be wrong, but i think it is possible to blow/crack a seal on the cluch release cylinder? someone correct me on that... --- an extra aside, if you want to make sure the clutch is intact, pull out the switch on the cluth pedal, jump it out with a paper clip, and try to start the car in first and see if it lurches. If it doesn't turn over, the jump is not making contact. if it starts without lurching, that to me would indicate the clutch is gone. if it lurches, that at least is good.

Re: Re: clutch pedal on floor
Could be both clutch master and slave. Once the hydraulics go the pedal is worthless. Just like brakes, if you crack open all the bleeders the pedal will stay on the floor.
