Angry power window problem

my drivers side power window on my 92 lx is making a horrible noise. the other day when i was puttin it up, i still heard air rushing by so i pushed to the button to make it go up a little more. it started making this loud bang bang bang noise. its really loud and it sounds like the linkage is skipping or something, i really have no idea. anyone have any idea what the problem is? the window still wont go up all the way....its still about 1/4 inch from fully being closed. it goes up and down fine just when it gets to the top it makes this noise. thanks for the help

No not off the track but worse, I had this problem on my old MX-6. The system works by pulling and pushing a string of anal-bead lookin things. Attached to the motor is a circular plastic wheel with a round cutouts that grab onto the beads. The motor spins this plastic wheel and that inturn pulls or pushes the string of metal beads and that's what moves your window up and down. If the plastic wheel is worn down, the edge between two circular spaces has worn down and that allows the beads to slip into the next chamber. And since the whole system is under pressure, it's a rather violent process that makes a loud BAM whenever it does it.

It'll eventually get worse but you shouldn't have to worry about it if you don't overload the system. If you do you'll wear out the plastic bead grabber thing to point where it'll start slippin ALL the time. If you want to fix it, I'd suggest buying a brand new one from honda. Any junkyard part will have the same problem.

Naa...A non-powered one straight from honda cost me about $100. So technically it shouldn't be more than $50-$100 more than that. Check with honda to be sure.
