Angry antenna

I need a new one for my '97. I need something that bolts up quickly. I've already found that a "universal" product doesn't work. I need everything from the back of the receiver. I need everything because I yanked everything out. Don't ask why, because I really don't have a good answer. Thanks for any help.

It's really frustrating not having a dealer locally...

Re: antenna

Seriously? If so, I'll head out right now...

I coudn't get the universal one that I got from the local car audio place to work with the existing hole. Otherwise, I'll call the junkyard tomorrow...

Try the car stereo installation center at Best Buy or Circuit City. They will sell you antennas, kits, filters. Everything you need for a new install.

Re: antenna

I installed one from Walmart on my Prelude after the power antenna died.

Re: antenna

I'll try that next. Walmart had one universal available, but it won't work. The location of the oval hole on the corner of the fender makes it tough, I guess.

In retrospect, all I needed to do was unscrew the broken mast and screw a new one on...

Re: antenna

I replaced my metal mast with a rubber one on my Amigo the first week I owned the truck.

Re: antenna

I had the flexible rubber one. The FL sun turned it into brittle plastic. I've wondered how long it would be before it fell off. Today was the day. I was driving at about 50 mph and something went flying past the passenger side window. "What was that?" I thought. "Oh...my antenna."

By the way...thanks for all the replies! In my pissy mood, I forgot my manners.

Where did you buy it and how much? Is it shorter than the stock antenna? Was there an improvement in reception? I get poor AM reception and would like to make it better.

The stock antenna is so tall, I have been wanting to replace it.

Re: Re: antenna

Did you have to remove the existing mounting in the fender?

Re: antenna

There are replacement masts available on ebay for $11. I think I'm going to have to reuse the old mount somehow...
